Sol de Janeiro, the Brazilian body care brand, is taking its signature format into fine fragrance territory with three reworked Cheirosa scents and one entirely new addition.

Sol de Janeiro launched its Intense Perfume Mists today, a higher-concentration reworking of the Cheirosa scents that turned the brand into a body mist phenomenon. The initial release includes three fragrances, richer versions of the long-running Cheirosa 62 and Cheirosa 59, and a brand-new addition, Cheirosa 74. Robertet perfumer Jérôme Epinette created the mists and the original Cheirosa 62 scent used in the brand’s signature Bum Bum Cream.

A fourth, Cheirosa 91 Intense, follows at Sephora, Sephora.com, and Amazon on 29 September, a month after the first three arrive through Ulta Beauty and soldejaneiro.com

Sol de Janeiro CEO Jordan Saxemard has said the format grew out of customer requests for the existing Cheirosa mists to last longer. The brand is backing that up with a 10-hour longevity claim. Saxemard declined to share exact concentrations but described the Intense formulas as more than double the strength of the original mists.

The launch arrives with Sol de Janeiro, now 11 years old, as the top-selling brand at Sephora. A campaign fronting the launch was shot in Rio de Janeiro and fronted by Brazilian singer-songwriter Iza.

Cheirosa 62 Intense Adds Depth to the Best-Selling Gourmand Scent

Cheirosa 62 has been one of the brand’s most consistent sellers since launch. The perfume is built on a gourmand profile of pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla. The Intense version keeps that structure and adds depth: top notes of pistachio and almond, a heart of heliotrope, jasmine petals, and roasted macadamia. Its dry-down combines a solar ambery accord with salted caramel, sandalwood, patchouli, and vanilla absolute.

The Intense line draws on beach-sunset imagery, with the brand describing Cheirosa 62 as an expression of golden hour in Rio captured in a bottle.

Cheirosa 59 Leans Into Woody And Ambery Notes

Cheirosa 59 takes a different route. Where 62 stays gourmand, the Intense version of 59 pushes further into woody territory, opening with white orchid and macadamia before moving through violet, jasmine, sambac absolute, creamy sandalwood, toffee, and patchouli.

The dry-down settles into a solar ambery accord, vetiver, and what the brand calls ‘whipped musk’. Sol de Janeiro frames the scent around a beach bonfire at sunset, giving it an evening-oriented character.

Cheirosa 74 Introduces a New Scent to the Line

Cheirosa 74 is the only genuinely new fragrance in the initial launch. It opens with bergamot and ripe pineapple and moves through plum, orange flower, and aldehydes. It finishes with a solar amber accord and vanilla beans, sitting between amber and floral territory. The brand ties the scent specifically to Arpoador Beach in Rio de Janeiro, describing the fragrance as built around the atmosphere of crowds gathering there each evening to watch the sunset.

The three scents share the same concentration level and are priced at $34 or $87 for the trio.

Sol de Janeiro’s Expanding Fragrance Portfolio

Intense follows a run of fragrance launches across 2026. In July, Sol de Janeiro entered men’s fragrance for the first time with Cheiroso Cologne Mist, built around two scents, Cheiroso 7 and Cheiroso 10. It sold direct-to-consumer and on Sephora.com ahead of a nationwide store rollout in August. The men’s line arrived as the brand’s most significant launch since cofounder Heela Yang departed in April, with Jordan Saxemard stepping into the CEO role.

Cheiroso Cologne Mist pairs a premium scent with freshness-enhancing technology. Sol de Janeiro entered a category the brand said has traditionally been dominated by deodorants and fine fragrance. Its rollout was timed around rising interest in men’s fragrance, body mists, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Earlier in the year, the brand introduced Jelly Perfume Balm, its first solid fragrance format, a twist-up stick available in Cheirosa 62, Cheirosa 68, and Cheirosa 40 that rolled out across travel retail between March and May.

The rollout was supported by pop-up activations in the UK and formed part of the brand’s global travel retail campaign, spanning 50 airports. Sol de Janeiro also expanded its Body Badalada Lotion range with new textures and additional Cheirosa scents across the same period.

Sol de Janeiro released a run of limited spring scents as well, including Cheeky Biquíni, Refresco Paraíso, and Limonada Gelada, part of the brand’s seasonal drop. Beauty Packaging named Sol de Janeiro its 2026 Company of the Year, citing the brand’s pace of fragrance and body care launches across the year. The brand also expanded its retail footprint in April with a partnership with Urban Outfitters, extending its fragrance and body care distribution into a younger, fashion-oriented retail channel.
