Gap Inc. has unveiled the first release from Gap Beauty, reviving the fragrance collection that debuted in November 1994 and made Dream, Grass, Heaven, and Om staples of the decade. The four original scents return as eau de parfums, joined by a new fragrance called Harmony. Gap Beauty’s fragrance collection will be available from 30 July at Gap stores across the US and through the brand’s online store at gap.com.
What's New in Gap Beauty's Revived Fragrance Collection
All five scents ship as eau de parfum this time, at 20 percent concentration, a strength closer to what you’d expect from a department store counter than a 90s mall kiosk. The four archive scents keep their original character but have been rebuilt with newer, cleaner materials, so they last longer on skin than the originals did.
Dream is the least changed of the four, still opening on Italian bergamot before settling into jasmine and finishing on cedarwood, the structure that made it the collection’s original bestseller. Grass, Heaven, and Om get the same treatment, close enough to the versions people remember but stronger and longer-wearing, built for a customer who now reaches for two or three scents across a single day.
Meet Harmony, Gap Beauty's New Fragrance for 2026
The newcomer has no 90s predecessor to answer to. The scent is a blend built around apricot, mandarin, gardenia, tuberose, and jasmine, finished with a gourmand amber note. Perfumer Honorine Blanc explained to the outlet that gourmand notes add a sense of playfulness and that pairing them against fruit creates a friction that works in the scent’s favor. Harmony sits closest to the fruity floral territory currently packing luxury counters, further from the Gap of 1994 than anything else in the collection and clearly built for a shopper who never wore the originals in the first place.
Honorine Blanc Returns to Reinvent Gap's Classic Fragrances
Blanc has the longest memory of anyone on this project. She helped build the original four scents in 1994, and this year The Fragrance Foundation gave her its Lifetime Achievement Perfumer Award, a recognition landing just as her earliest work returns to shelves. She told Whowhatwear that today’s fragrance shopper carries far more product knowledge than the 90s buyer did, and that the wider range of tastes she now encounters gives her and Mancini room to push the reformulated blends further than the originals ever went. Gap’s marketing pushes customers toward mixing scents instead of settling on one signature, singling out Heaven and Dream as a combination worth trying together.
Why Gap Is Bringing Back Its Classic Fragrances
Mark Breitbard, Gap’s CEO and president, framed the relaunch as identity work as much as product strategy, saying Gap’s products have always doubled as a form of self-expression and that fragrance fits naturally into that history. He said the updated line was built to work for customers who remember the originals and for a younger set discovering Gap fragrance for the first time. Deb Redmond, who heads beauty at Gap, described a more technical brief for her team, one focused on holding onto the core identity of each original scent while reworking the underlying chemistry to be stronger, longer-lasting, and built to survive being layered, not worn alone.
How Gap Beauty Fits Into Gap Inc.'s Growth Strategy
Fragrance is the second beauty bet Gap Inc. has made in under a year, following its September 2025 appointment of a dedicated beauty leadership team, with Redmond named head of beauty and Michele Parsons brought in to run accessories. Old Navy Beauty Co. launched first, in October 2025. Business of Fashion places the relaunch inside a wider retail pattern, where mass players keep testing beauty as a category with steadier margins than apparel.
Several mass fashion chains have made similar bets on beauty over the past year, among them H&M, Zara, and Primark, each building out ranges that run from skin and cosmetics through to hair products and scent. The category’s results for these players have been mixed, and that a beloved name behind a launch is no guarantee of success in a market already saturated with Y2K-era releases. Bliss’s recent Gilmore Girls collaboration, aimed at the same Millennial and Gen-X shoppers Gap is courting, is evidence of just how crowded that nostalgia playbook has become.
Gap Fragrance Release Date, Prices and Availability
Gap has spent recent years trying to rebuild the cultural standing it had under former CEO Mickey Drexler, and this launch sits inside current CEO Richard Dickson’s broader turnaround plan for the company. The collection launches across Gap stores and gap.com in the US on 30 July, with three size options available: a five-piece 0.5 oz Discovery Kit priced at $20, a 10 ml bottle for $20, and a 50 ml bottle for $52.
Gap’s UK business runs through a separate joint venture with Next, which operates gap.co.uk and the brand’s UK stores, including a reopened Covent Garden flagship on Long Acre and an earlier shop-in-shop inside Next’s Oxford Street store. Neither company has confirmed a UK launch date or GBP pricing for the fragrance line.
