CJ Olive Young will launch the “OLIVE YOUNG K-Beauty Edit” in more than 580 Sephora stores across the United States, as well as on Sephora’s online mall, starting 20 August. The rollout carries roughly 150 products from 19 Korean beauty brands, curated by Olive Young.

The two companies signed their partnership in January this year. The launch lands as UK K-beauty sales grow 65 per cent in value terms year on year, according to Circana, well ahead of the broader skincare category’s 12 per cent growth over the same period.

Olive Young Positions the Sephora Edit as a Full K-Beauty Showcase

Olive Young described the space as designed to present the range and current trends of K-beauty to the American market across multiple dimensions rather than a single category. Nineteen brands is a tight edit for a retailer that stocks hundreds across its Korean locations, spanning skincare, colour cosmetics, hair care and beauty devices. CJ Olive Young is a subsidiary of CJ Group and counts more than 1,380 stores across South Korea, making it the country’s largest health and beauty retailer.

After formalising the partnership in January, the two companies spent more than six months assembling the product selection ahead of the 20 August launch.

Olive Young Expands US Growth After Pasadena Store Launch

Olive Young opened its first US brick-and-mortar store in Pasadena, California, on 29 May, an 8,647-square-foot flagship carrying roughly 5,000 products from around 400 brands, including Anua, MEDIHEAL, Biodance, rom&nd, Torriden, Unove, fwee and Mise-en-scène. Its opening was accompanied by the rollout of a dedicated US online store.

Speaking to WWD ahead of the opening, Olive Young USA chief executive Gaeun Kwon confirmed the Sephora partnership was already planned for that autumn, with the company describing plans at the time to reach roughly 650 stores across North America. The 5 August announcement narrows that to more than 580 US locations specifically, with the 19-brand Sephora edit distinct from the roughly 400-brand assortment carried in the Pasadena store itself.

Kwon has also confirmed plans for at least five additional California and West Coast stores by the first half of 2027, starting with a second Los Angeles-area location at the Westfield Century City mall, which opened in June.

Anua, COSRX and La'dor Reflect K-Beauty's Rising Global Influence

The Sephora placement follows a run of high-profile K-beauty signings across 2026. Kendall Jenner joined Anua this year as the brand’s global ambassador. COSRX and La’dor have led recent surges in media impact value, with La’dor’s December 2025 announcement of BTS member Jimin as global ambassador generating over a million dollars in tracked media value within a single week, according to brand analytics firm Launchmetrics.

Launchmetrics separately reported that combined media impact value for Korean beauty brands jumped from roughly $23,000 in the first quarter of 2025 to $1.2 million by the third quarter of that year, with COSRX and La’dor cited as the brands leading that increase.

TirTir's 40-Shade Foundation Highlights K-Beauty's Global Evolution

TirTir’s Mask Fit Red Cushion Foundation is sold in roughly 40 shades. Whether TirTir sits among the 19 brands in the Sephora edit hasn’t been confirmed. Kaja Beauty, part of the Memebox incubator group founded by Dino Ha, has a separate US retail presence at Ulta with its Double Kiss Bento cheek and lip duo, showing that Korean brands are already distributed across more than one American beauty retailer ahead of the Sephora edit’s opening.

Olive Young Festa LA Adds Another US Showcase for K-Beauty

Beyond the Pasadena store and the Sephora rollout, Olive Young also has its own Festa LA 2026 scheduled for later in August. That event brings 55 Korean brands into 50,000 square feet of exhibition space in Los Angeles and runs as a standalone festival, separate from the store and the Sephora edit.

K-Beauty Export Growth Continues to Drive Global Expansion

South Korea’s cosmetics exports reached a record $11.43 billion globally in 2025, up 12.3 per cent on the previous year, and the country overtook France as the largest cosmetics exporter to the United States during that period. Dino Ha told trade publication Cosmetics Business that the category has moved past its early reputation for novelty and fast-moving trends and now functions as a mainstream part of the global beauty industry, with consumers increasingly viewing Korean brands as reliable sources of product innovation and quality.

Trending K-Beauty Categories Expected in the Sephora Edit

Current K-beauty categories driving growth in Korea include hanbang-inflected formulas built around ginseng, mugwort and bamboo sap paired with peptides and encapsulation technology; spicule-based texture treatments; and biotech skincare positioning that brands, including the Memebox portfolio, have pushed as the category’s next phase. Trend forecasts for 2026 have also named wearable maximalism, metabolic beauty, and skincare aimed at the effects of GLP-1 medication among the categories reshaping product development in Korea this year.

The wider Cosmoprof North America show earlier this year highlighted K-beauty alongside SPF and fragrance as the three growth areas retail buyers were watching most closely, with Ulta using its own Colorfest initiative to introduce shoppers to a broader range of Korean categories through a multi-stop college campus tour beginning in August. The full 150-product breakdown by category for the Sephora edit has not been disclosed.
