Taylor Swift married Travis Kelce on Friday, July 3, in a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture gown designed by Jonathan Anderson. The wedding to Kansas City Chiefs tight end took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City, following a two-day celebration that began with a rehearsal dinner in the arena’s Infosys Theatre. For the ceremony, Swift and Kelce both chose Dior. It marks Anderson’s first couture wedding gown for a public figure of this scale since his appointment as the house’s creative director last year. Swift and Kelce have been together since 2023. Once the ceremony concluded, the LED displays outside Madison Square Garden lit up with the message “JUST&T Married.”

A Dior Debut Fit for Pop Royalty

Jonathan Anderson’s tenure at Dior has already reshaped the house’s aesthetic vocabulary, pairing archival rigour with a more sculptural, tactile approach to eveningwear. Swift’s gown is his first bridal commission for a bride of this scale. Publicist Tree Paine confirmed the milestone in an official statement. Swift and Anderson developed the piece together, built for her specifically rather than pulled from an existing line. Swift worked on the look with her long-time stylist, Joseph Cassell. Her engagement ring, a diamond by Artifex Fine, has been in circulation in photographs since the couple’s engagement announcement.

Anderson was born in Northern Ireland. He trained at the London College of Fashion and worked in visual merchandising at Prada under Manuela Pavesi before founding his own label, JW Anderson, in 2008. He consulted for several other brands before that debut. He spent eleven years at Loewe before joining Dior last year. His second couture collection for the house shows in Paris on July 6, days after the wedding.

Kelce also wore Dior Haute Couture for the ceremony. They finished their wedding ensembles with bespoke Christian Louboutin footwear. Swift added Cartier jewellery, a house frequently seen in her red-carpet wardrobe.

The Setting: Madison Square Garden as a Wedding Venue

Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden, the arena where Swift has staged some of her largest performances. Security and city officials closed streets and stationed officers around the venue for days ahead of the event. Tim McGraw and Stevie Nicks performed across the weekend’s festivities.

Guests arrived Friday evening in black tie, with sightings including Selena Gomez, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Ed Sheeran, Hugh Grant, Abby Wambach, Jason Sudeikis and Ethan Hawke. Karlie Kloss attended in a liquid gold gown by Tove, arriving alongside Joshua Kushner. There was no traditional bridal party of bridesmaids and groomsmen. Swift named her brother Austin as man of honour. Kelce’s brother Jason served as best man.

Beyond the Aisle: A $26 Million Wedding Week Gift

In the days before the ceremony, Swift and Kelce donated $26 million to more than twenty charities across the United States. The list included nine food banks, seven educational programmes, three children’s hospitals and an animal welfare organisation. City Harvest confirmed a $1 million gift supporting food insecurity relief in New York. Other recipients included the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, near Swift’s Watch Hill estate, and Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where Kelce has played for the Chiefs throughout his career. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the paediatric cancer programme at Memorial Sloan Kettering, and Musical Mentors also received funds. The announcement did not mention the wedding. The gesture recalls Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, who donated three million euros to Venetian charities ahead of their wedding in Venice last summer.

Why This Wedding Matters to Fashion

Taylor Swift’s fashion choices have influenced style conversations for more than a decade. Her broader business ventures, from touring to re-recording her catalogue, have been reported at an estimated value of more than $2 billion. Jonathan Anderson took over Dior’s womenswear, menswear and couture lines just over a year ago, making him the eighth couturier in the house’s history and the first to hold all three titles at once. A custom wedding gown of this scale, built for Swift rather than drawn from an archive, follows that appointment by about twelve months.

Before the confirmation, names circulating included Ralph Lauren, who designed Swift’s engagement announcement dress, along with Wiederhoeft, Erdem and other labels known for bridal work. Dior won out. Anderson’s prior celebrity dressing at the house includes Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Rihanna, Anya Taylor-Joy and Robert Pattinson, among others. His only previous bridal commission was for Chinese supermodel Ming Xi, who married businessman Mario Ho on June 1. Swift has worn Dior pieces from Anderson’s tenure in her street style in recent months, including the label’s Cigale bag. This is her first time wearing his work for a formal occasion of this size.
