TIRTIR is a South Korean beauty brand spanning colour cosmetics and skincare, best known internationally for its distinctive red, egg-shaped Mask Fit Red Cushion foundation. Founded by entrepreneur Lee Yoo-bin and now part of the Goodai Global beauty group, the company has developed from a digitally connected Korean skincare business into a globally distributed K-beauty name. Its appeal rests on a combination of practical product design, recognisable visual identity, skin-conscious formulations and an unusually broad approach to foundation shades within the cushion category. The brand’s name has been described as “Trust in Radiance,” a phrase that reflects its ongoing emphasis on luminous skin, confident self-presentation, and beauty products designed for everyday use.
From Fashion Entrepreneurship to Beauty
TIRTIR’s story began with Lee Yoo-bin, a fashion graduate who had already experienced the realities of digital entrepreneurship through an online clothing business. According to Korean business reporting, the fashion venture encountered serious financial pressure, after which Lee redirected her attention towards cosmetics with support from her family. Her existing online audience had shown particular interest in her complexion and skincare routine, giving her a direct understanding of what digitally engaged beauty consumers wanted to know, try and share.
This closeness to consumers influenced the young brand’s earliest identity. Rather than beginning as a traditional colour-cosmetics company, TIRTIR concentrated on skincare and the hydrated, polished complexion widely associated with Korean beauty. Ceramic Cream became one of its early signature products, helping establish the brand around moisturised, smooth-looking skin before foundation became its most internationally recognisable category.
The business expanded rapidly. Contemporary reporting indicates that TIRTIR generated approximately 12.2 billion won in revenue in 2018 while operating with a team of around five people. During the same period, it secured substantial outside investment and began increasing its public visibility, including through a campaign featuring South Korean actor Park Seo-joon. Revenue was subsequently reported at 123.7 billion won in 2022 and 171.9 billion won in 2023, illustrating the speed with which the brand moved beyond its entrepreneurial beginnings.
The Cushion That Changed TIRTIR’s International Profile
Although skincare created the foundation of the business, the Mask Fit Red Cushion transformed TIRTIR into a global beauty conversation. Cushion foundations are an established part of the Korean cosmetics landscape: a liquid complexion product is housed in a compact and applied with a soft puff, allowing controlled application and convenient touch-ups. TIRTIR’s interpretation gave the familiar format a strong visual identity through its glossy red, rounded case.
The brand describes the Mask Fit Red Cushion as a hydrating, lightweight foundation that delivers full coverage with a natural, semi-matte finish. Its current international range includes 40 shades, while the formulation is promoted as providing up to 72 hours of wear. TIRTIR also highlights ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and botanical extracts to support the cushion’s skin-comfort positioning.
Its success lies not only in coverage but in the relationship between performance and portability. The compact can be used with a light touch for more measured coverage or built carefully in areas where additional evening of the complexion is desired. The fine puff encourages pressing rather than sweeping, which has become central to the product’s application ritual and to the demonstration videos shared across social platforms.
The red compact also gave TIRTIR something particularly valuable in contemporary beauty: instant visual recognition. It remains identifiable in a crowded retail display, in a handbag and during a short-form tutorial. That recognisability has helped the product travel across languages and markets without losing its connection to Korean cushion culture.
Building a Broader Shade Wardrobe
TIRTIR’s most consequential international development was the expansion of its shade offering. When the Red Cushion began receiving wider attention outside Asia, it was available in three shades: 17C Porcelain, 21N Ivory and 23N Sand. As global interest grew, beauty creators and customers asked the company to offer colours suitable for a far wider range of complexions.
The brand responded at unusual speed. Its range expanded to nine shades in February 2024, 20 in May, 30 in June and 40 by August. The development attracted particular attention because cushion foundations had historically offered fewer options than many conventional liquid-foundation lines. TIRTIR’s expanded collection therefore represented an important step in making the Korean cushion format more accessible to international consumers.
Canadian creator Darcei Amanda, widely known as MissDarcei, became closely associated with this evolution. Her videos exploring whether Korean beauty products could accommodate deeper skin tones helped bring the subject to an international audience. TIRTIR communicated with Darcei and other creators while developing and testing additional options, eventually working with her as an ambassador. The exchange demonstrated how social media can function as more than an advertising channel: it can also operate as a highly visible source of product-development insight.
The resulting shade wardrobe became one of TIRTIR’s defining attributes. Rather than leaving the cushion compact within a limited regional framework, the brand repositioned it as a format capable of serving consumers across different complexions and undertones. Its “Your Shade, Our Standard” message now forms part of a broader identity centred on individuality and confidence.
A Skincare Heritage Behind the Makeup
TIRTIR’s foundation may be its most visible product, but the company continues to draw heavily on its skincare beginnings. The Milk Skin Toner has become another recognised part of the range, offering the milky texture and layering potential associated with moisture-focused Korean routines. The original toner has been joined by Milk Skin Toner Light, extending the concept to consumers who prefer a fresher, lighter preparation.
Rice-derived ingredients have remained closely connected with the toner’s identity. Current descriptions highlight rice bran alongside ingredients such as niacinamide, centella asiatica and peptides, positioning the product as a preparatory step that supports a hydrated, more refined-looking complexion before serum, moisturiser or makeup.
This skincare background gives TIRTIR a coherent point of difference. Its colour products are not presented as separate from the complexion beneath them. Instead, the brand’s routine encourages consumers to think about preparation, hydration, thin layers and careful application. That philosophy connects the Milk Skin Toner, Ceramic Cream and cushion foundations within a single visual objective: skin that looks even, comfortable and naturally radiant.
Matcha, Texture and the Next Skincare Chapter
By 2026, TIRTIR had expanded this approach through a Matcha skincare collection built around green tea sourced from Jeju Island and an ingredient complex described by the company as Matcha-PDRN. The line includes products such as Matcha Skin Toner and Matcha Calming Cream, combining a familiar Korean botanical with contemporary interest in soothing, barrier-conscious skincare.
The Matcha Calming Cream is distinguished by its elastic, pudding-like texture. Its formula includes green-tea extract, ceramides, peptides and sodium DNA, while the company describes it as a product for hydration, comfort and the visible appearance of redness. According to testing figures published by TIRTIR, the cream produced a 23.6% improvement in visible redness over 24 hours and a 1.92% improvement in elasticity after one use. These figures represent brand-reported cosmetic testing rather than independent medical claims.
TIRTIR similarly reports that its Matcha Skin Toner increased hydration and improved the visible appearance of redness in a 22-person product test. More broadly, the collection reveals how the brand is developing beyond a single hero foundation. Texture, sensory appeal and routine-building are becoming increasingly important components of its international identity.
From Digital Discovery to International Retail
TIRTIR’s international expansion has followed the modern K-beauty route from social discovery and online marketplaces into established beauty retailers. Japan became an especially important early market for the Red Cushion; by 2024, Teen Vogue described it as the country’s number-one foundation.
In the United States, Amazon provided another powerful route to discovery. Market-analysis company Jungle Scout reported substantial year-on-year increases in TIRTIR’s Amazon unit sales and revenue after its 2023 entry onto the platform. The data placed the brand among notable performers within Amazon’s cosmetics category and illustrated how quickly a digitally visible K-beauty product could gain market share once shade accessibility, creator education and reliable fulfilment aligned.
The United Kingdom marked a further stage in this transition. TIRTIR launched through Sephora UK online in July 2025 with products including the Mask Fit Red Cushion, Waterism Glow Tint, Ceramic Milk Ampoule and Milk Skin Toner. The following month, it began rolling out across 29 Boots stores. According to the brand’s announcement, this made TIRTIR the first Korean beauty label to secure permanent physical shelf space within the Boots network.
India has also emerged as a relevant growth market. TIRTIR entered physical retail through Tira in January 2025, complementing online availability through major beauty platforms. This widening presence reflects the international versatility of the brand’s assortment: cushion foundation provides the recognisable entry product, while toners, lip colour, primers and skincare encourage a wider relationship with the label.
V and the Expansion of TIRTIR’s Cultural Reach
In late 2025, TIRTIR appointed BTS member V, Kim Taehyung, as its first global brand ambassador. The partnership was introduced through the “V&YOU: Let’s Radiate” campaign, connecting the brand’s radiance message with one of the world’s most recognisable Korean cultural figures.
The campaign extended across major international locations, including outdoor displays in New York and London and an experiential event on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. While celebrity ambassadors have long been central to Korean beauty marketing, V’s appointment signalled TIRTIR’s transition into a truly global communications phase. It united K-pop, Korean cosmetics and the visual language of international fashion campaigns while maintaining the brand’s focus on individual shade expression.
The collaboration was particularly well suited to TIRTIR because its products already possessed strong visual codes. The compact’s sculptural red form, V’s fashion influence and the campaign’s cinematic presentation created a recognisable world rather than a conventional product endorsement.
Shade Valley: Turning the Brand into a Physical Experience
TIRTIR opened its first standalone flagship, Shade Valley, in Seoul’s Seongsu district in May 2025. Seongsu has become one of the city’s most active centres for fashion, beauty, cafés and experiential retail, making it a natural location for the brand’s first fully realised physical environment.
Designed by Seoul-based spatial design studio LABOTORY, the store translates the Red Cushion’s identity into architecture. Its curved exterior is finished in a pearlescent, automotive-style red, echoing the compact’s sheen and rounded silhouette. Inside, curved surfaces and a specially produced marble-concrete counter explore gradations of tone and texture, reflecting the ideas of diversity and individuality associated with the expanded shade range.
The lower-level beauty lounge was conceived for product exploration and consultation, allowing the store to operate as more than a point of sale. In 2026, TIRTIR expanded its beauty-technology offering through a partnership with Perfect Corp., introducing augmented-reality foundation try-on and AI-supported shade recommendations online and at the Seongsu flagship. The service allows visitors to compare shades digitally before experiencing the formula in person.
Shade Valley therefore represents an important development in TIRTIR’s evolution. A brand that grew through screens, social recommendations and online marketplaces now has a permanent environment where packaging, shade selection, consultation and spatial design can be experienced together.
TIRTIR within Goodai Global
Goodai Global completed its acquisition of TIRTIR in August 2024. The group has since developed as a multi-brand Korean beauty platform whose portfolio includes Beauty of Joseon, SKIN1004, Round Lab, SKINFOOD, House of Hur, iUNIK and Dr. Nineteen alongside TIRTIR.
For TIRTIR, the relationship provides access to a broader distribution, logistics and international-market infrastructure while allowing the brand to retain its own recognisable product language. Goodai Global’s subsequent establishment of operations in the United States and Japan, together with its acquisition of US beauty distributor Hansung USA in February 2026, illustrates the scale of the platform being constructed around its brands.
Yet TIRTIR’s identity remains unusually distinct within that portfolio. Its red compact, broad cushion range, digitally literate communication and connection between skincare preparation and complexion makeup give it a clear role: it is the colour-led, culturally visible brand capable of introducing new consumers to the wider Goodai beauty ecosystem.
A Modern K-Beauty Success Story
TIRTIR’s development offers a revealing picture of how contemporary beauty brands are built. Its journey has not followed the slow, department-store-led route historically associated with international cosmetics houses. It began with a founder’s digital audience, established credibility through skincare, found a globally recognisable hero product and then adapted that product for a much wider community.
The brand’s significance ultimately lies in the way it has carried the Korean cushion compact into a more inclusive international era. By combining practical design, a memorable visual identity, responsive shade development, skincare-led storytelling and expanding physical retail, TIRTIR has created a beauty language that feels distinctly Korean and confidently global.
